Our History

October 1930

Seikakudo Tokeiten is founded in Himeji City, Japan by Yoshio Tane, starting out as a retail store engaged in the sale and repair of clocks, precious metals and eyewear.

March 1960

Seikakudo Tokeiten is renamed to Miki Optical Inc as the business shifts exclusively to eyewear retail.

March 1973

The company’s first overseas subsidiary, Paris Miki S.A.R.L, is established in France. Its first international store opens at Avenue de l’Opera in Paris.

July 1974

Paris-Miki Co., Ltd. is established in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, to focus on opening stores in eastern Japan. Concurrently, Paris Miki opens its first store in Singapore.

1989

World Optical College, Paris Miki’s own Optical School, is established to train Paris Miki’s opticians in giving unparalleled, world-class eye care

October 1992

Paris Miki opens its first store in China, located on Jinling East Road in Shanghai.

September 1994

Paris Miki introduces its Mikissimes Design System to its stores in Japan. This system custom-designs eyewear for each customer through computer graphics that incorporate artificial intelligence. It finds the best frame shape adapted to one’s morphology, taking into account face shape, style, and taste.

August 1998

Paris Miki is listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

January 2010

Kimpo-do, renowned retailer of prescription glasses and high-fashion eyewear, joins Miki Holdings Co., Ltd. Founded in 1887 in Nihombashi, Tokyo, Kimpo-do’s business underwent various changes following the war in 1953, which ultimately led to it being floated as a public company.

January 2011

Paris Miki takes over the production facilities of well-known optical manufacturer Fukui Koki Co., Ltd., creating an eyewear manufacturing business under a new subsidiary, Create Three Co., Ltd. Create Three fuses artisan craftsmanship and design technology, using 3D product designs and direct carving.

July 2014

Paris Miki celebrates 40 years of operations in Singapore.
